About us

Hi, I’m Angelina, the founder of Caterpillars a Mariposas Daycare.

FCM is my dream come true. I've always adored children, and the Reggio Emilia philosophy resonated deeply with me. I believe every child is capable, curious, and creative, and deserves an environment that nurtures those qualities. As a certified early childhood educator, I've dedicated the last 5 years to building FCM into a place where children feel safe, loved, and inspired to explore the world around them. It's been an incredible journey, and I'm so grateful to be part of this wonderful community.

Our vision

From Caterpillar’s a Mariposa’s (FCM) is a daycare where children and families will feel as though it is a home away from home. We have created a space that is safe, comfortable, and fits the needs of all children.

FCM’s pedagogy is to incorporate child, parent, teacher, and community into our curriculum. The outside world is where the children will be doing the most learning. They will learn their connection to the environment and the community while simultaneously learning how to take care of themselves and the community they are growing with.

As FCM’s grows, we hope that your children may also grow with as we cultivate our place in the community. And as we grow with the community so does our understanding of our connection to it and each other

Our mission

From Caterpillar’s a Mariposa’s strives to ensure that we are creating a space where children will be challenged, nurtured, self directed, and enriched through this Reggio Emilia inspired school. Amid a student centered and constructivist pedagogy the children will foster this learning through a deep understanding of their thinking, questions, creativity and curiosities.

Our curriculum is made to uphold the needs of the children, foster their developmental milestones, while recognizing their inherent power and competence. Through our Reggio Emilia influenced classroom, we want to assure that we are providing all the necessary tools to help the children’s growth and development in language, math, physical, and social-emotional skills through exploration of nature through art and peer, teacher, parent, community interactions. We want to guarantee the families that we are creating deep and meaningful connections through child-centered experiences.

We are here to advocate for the children, parents and community. FCM will continue to work hard to make sure we are continuously learning new concepts and theory related to child’s development in order to provide updated resources for the community and ourselves.

Curriculum Design - El Currículo Creativo

Our program embraces the Reggio Emilia approach, where children are active constructors of their own knowledge. We believe in the power of play and exploration in natural settings, fostering a deep connection with the environment. Children will engage in meaningful interactions with peers and the community, building essential social skills and a sense of belonging.

Through a blend of child-led discovery, teacher-facilitated experiences, and unstructured play, we'll support children's holistic development. They'll cultivate social-emotional intelligence, language and literacy skills, mathematical understanding, and a lifelong love of learning.

Where curiosity grows wings.
